We support individuals and families affected by dyspraxia. Please help by supporting us:

What happens next?

There are other parents/carers who understand what you are going through. There are also many sources of information and support to help you and your child now and in the future.

Join the Dyspraxia Foundation

A first step is to become a member of the Dyspraxia Foundation and join one of our local support groups. Talking to other parents and meeting families in the same position as you can really help. It can help get things into perspective. You’ll also find out about local services and sources of support. Local groups also give young people chances to meet and try new activities. They do this in a safe space. It can be a great way to build confidence, skills and social networks. If there isn’t a local group in your area, get in touch to find out how we can help you set one up.

We also run national conferences and events. At these, parents can meet and learn about dyspraxia. Keep an eye on our events page and social media for news about upcoming events and activities.

Our website includes many hints and tips. They help you and your child manage daily activities. They also build the skills and confidence your child needs to reach their potential. If you have any further questions, please contact our helpline.

Work together as a family

Having a child who has dyspraxia affects the whole family. You may find that you organise family life and activities around the needs of that child. It is important to work together as a whole family and support each another.

To help everyone, you could:

  • Try activities which involve the whole family equally
  • Encourage each child to have their own hobbies and interests. Then, comparisons won't matter.
  • Talk to your partner about the problems and be open about how you both feel
  • Arrange time each week to concentrate on each child and your partner
  • Take time for yourself and keep in touch with friends
  • Join a local support group. Some groups run events which include siblings
